DLA originated in 1972 as a design and construction company, called Renovate,
Inc., with public and private clients in the greater Boston area. By 1976,
the company had evolved into a $6M, award-winning design/ build firm specializing
in the development and financing of historically appropriate luxury residences.
In 1980, DLA morphed into a more traditional architectural firm with design/
build collaborations on the development of the Steve’s Ice Cream and
Bertucci’s Pizzeria franchise with Shawmut Construction and restaurateur
Joey Crugnale.
Our architectural expertise in our three core areas: food
service, residential design and commerical design, results from DLA’s non-traditional,
multi-disciplinary evolution. Our strength in these areas is derived from extensive
real world experience. Our primary team views the unique challenges of each
new DLA client with a fresh and enthusiastic eye.
