UP-AND-COMING BOSTON DESIGN FIRM ANNOUNCES NEW PROJECTS
West Newton, MA . (June 13, 2003)

Donald Lang Architects (hereafter referred to as DLA), best known in Boston as the design talent behind Pho Pasteur, a five-unit Vietnamese bistro, continues to establish its reputation in the fields of restaurant design and historic renovations with four high profile new projects:

ELEMENTS, a 100-seat fine dining restaurant in the Boston suburb of Arlington, opened in June after a sleek $100K refurbishment to a space formerly occupied by a tearoom/bakery. DLA added subdued colors complemented by original art, built an architectural entryway, and installed a stunning tile and cherry bar, providing a comfy backdrop for a menu of seasonal American food.

THE PURPLE SHAMROCK, a popular restaurant and night club located in the historic Quincy Market area of Boston, will receive a major overhaul to reinterpret its traditional Irish motif in a 21st century way, using a combination of stainless steel, copper, mica and super-sized photo murals of former Mayor James Michael Curley, whose biography is the establishment’s namesake. The property is one of eight owned and operated by the Glynn Hospitality Group.

WELLESLEY LOWER FALLS CENTER, a $2.5M, three -year project to expand and modernize a circa 1950s strip commercial block into an office-retail-restaurant complex on this toney town’s main thoroughfare. DLA cooperated with numerous town agencies to obtain special permits for facade and interior rehabilitation. Occupancy is slated for early 2005.

BOSTON KING COFFEE - Already successful overseas with locations in Korea and Japan, this gourmet cafe/ espresso bar concept will make its U.S. debut with a location in Woburn, MA

MEDITERRANEAN GRILL , a popular Post Office Square restaurant in Boston’s financial district, adds a second location on State Street.
